Practice and Mat Fees

All scheduled classes are open to visitors who wish to train, although final approval is left to the individual instructors. Visitors who practice are allowed to train at NO CHARGE for up to 7 consecutive days in a calendar year (starting from the first practice and counting the successive days even when you don't practice). After this time, you will be required to pay the monthly fee (and additional fees if appropriate) if you wish to continue. Additionally, donations in any amount are always welcome. Any person wishing to join practice as a visitor is expected to have prior experience in Aikido and must make the request to the instructor of each class. He/she also must (1) have an appropriate uniform and (2) fill out and sign a waiver form.

Adult visiting practitioners occasionally bring a son or daughter who is still a minor, who may be training with adults at their home dojo. Generally, anyone under 18 practices in the Junior classes. Exceptions to this rule may be granted to visitors in the above circumstance, but such decisions are up to the individual instructors.

Viewing Practice

Visitors, especially those considering joining as members, are encouraged to watch at least one practice session. Parents and family members and friends are always welcome to watch their family members during practice. Bench seating for viewing practices is provided to the left as you enter. The dojo is open ONLY during practice times. If you would like to inquire by phone, please call during these times to guarantee someone available to help you. Also, we are closed on all state and federal holidays, and some special events. Check the calendar for more information.

Parking and Etiquette

A parking lot is located at the back of the dojo. The driveway is located along the east side of the dojo. Right turns into the driveway need to be done with care and attention to cars behind you (signal well ahead of time). Left turns into the driveway should be wary of opposite oncoming traffic. In the evenings, the parking lot may fill up early before the start of practices. Curbside parking may be found on nearby streets, and may be more convenient. Everyone MUST take off their shoes or footwear before entering the Dojo. You can store your footwear on the shelves just inside the entryway on the right. You can also set it outside next to the entrance if the shelves are full, as long as it's neatly done.

The use of recording devices (e.g., photo and video cameras) of any kind are prohibited unless permission is granted by an authorized representative. As an audience member, please do not engage in loud talking or any sort of disturbance. Viewers should sit appropriately. Cell phone calls should be taken outside the dojo. Smoking is not allowed in the dojo nor anywhere near a window or entrance that might affect student practice.

Dojo flyer information is available immediately to the right after entering, above the shoe rack. Both student and instructors are willing to answer your questions. Feel free to approach anyone to assist you. Best time to ask questions is shortly before or after practices.
